MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the maintenance and technical support to the company’s assets by reducing unplanned operational outages and continually leading operational improvements insuring optimal production operations for an extremely diverse food processing facility.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, organize, coordinate and lead daily activities of union maintenance team on multiple shifts
  • Evaluate and provide training and professional development to maintenance team
  • Support, direct, motivate and coach the maintenance staff in safe work practices resulting in zero employee injuries
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the performance within the Maintenance organization in critical areas including organizational, effectiveness, reliability, cost and colleague development
  • Ensure factory is utilizing Corporate Asset Maintenance Management program
  • Ensure factory maintenance work orders are executed with the highest standards of engineering, integrity, product Food Safety, safety and environmental protection
  • Manage preventive/predictive repairs for optimal production equipment utilization
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to minimize and plan for operational maintenance
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality/Food Safety and Project departments on daily basis to resolve technical and operational issues
  • Manage R&M financial resources within the provided annual operating budget
  • Ensure availability of equipment complies with client and regulatory requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical OR Electrical Engineering OR equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Maintenance technical field in food & beverage manufacturing facility
  • In depth knowledge of food processing equipment maintenance and technology
  • Ability to provide leadership in the area of food safety and knowledge of SQF requirements
  • Analytical skills and proven problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and understanding to manage Ammonia Refrigeration systems and CAL/ARP RMP programs

Skills Required:

  • Experience repairing and maintaining reciprocating and screw compressors
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment
  • Troubleshoot pump recirculating systems and liquid transfer systems
  • Perform hot and cold compressor and motor alignments
  • Ability to replace all types of shaft seals
  • Install expansion and control valves, using acetylene torches and wrenches
  • Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source

SALARY - $25.00 - 31.00/HR, possibly higher DOE

HOURS - 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM with alternating Saturdays every other week: Monday thru Friday, and Monday thru Saturday


This position will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all cold storage systems, electrical control systems, and other components of facility and ranches. The ideal candidate will be able to troubleshoot, repair, fabricate and rebuild all production and associated machinery.


  • Perform preventative maintenance on the refrigeration equipment and other cooler machinery
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of processing equipment
  • Handle hazardous materials, such as chlorine, bioside and oil, safely under the direction of the Refrigeration Manager
  • Respond and repair emergency breakdowns of facility equipment
  • Participate in all regulatory audits (Mechanical Integrity, RMP, PSM, CalARP)
  • Perform other maintenance duties such as painting, plumbing, replacing valves, installing fixtures, and repairing leaks as needed
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical faults, PLC’s, VFD's and valves, DC and AC systems.
  • Ensure safe and proper operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems.
  • Maintain and repair all support equipment: including but not limited to, air-compressors, ammonia compressors, thermal storage units, condensers, vacuum pumps, ammonia systems, air conditioning units, conductivity meters, water meters, etc.
  • Repair and install electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment and other components so that they remain at full functioning capacity.
  • Understand and maintain equipment documentation such as P&ID’’s, schematics, line diagrams, technical manuals, operation manuals and serve as the facility technical resource
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards
  • Work with outside contractors to accomplish assigned task


Qualifications:

  • 2 years minimum experience in fabrication, equipment maintenance and AMMONIA REFRIGERATION - A MUST!
  • CIRO certification preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical troubleshooting control systems is a plus.

The Maintenance Mechanics must be knowledgeable of line / equipment operations, safety, and repair. Mechanics should have intermediate level knowledge of electrical/mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Also must be committed to reaching all production requirements. This position requires the ability to work any shift as directed by Management. Must be able to work and communicate with all Supervisors, Machine Attendants, Machine Operators, Forklift Operators, and Managers, to ensure the highest possible production and efficiencies for production lines. Must be able to adjust and respond to down equipment in a timely manner as directed by management.


Essential Duties:

  • Understand and comply with all ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP requirements and processes
  • Able to understand all machinery and controls
  • Must have basic mechanical / electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of VFD’s(programming) and PLC controls (troubleshooting)
  • Possess electrical diagnostic equipment common to the field.

• As directed and trained, ensure all units in the facility are functioning properly. 

• Routinely check for any malfunctions regarding equipment operation.

This position requires basic Maintenance Skills as well as the ability to handle Administrative/Clerical Duties. Essential Duties:

  • Review DIR (Driving Vehicle Inspection Report)
  • All Truck Maintenance: both internal and external. Must be the front-line person for repairs
  • Trouble-shoot equipment, making repairs and adjustments as necessary for operations
  • Non-Safety: small basic repairs
  • Coordinate movements of all equipment
  • Proper Documentation of all requisitions to be approved
  • Records of Maintenance Schedule

Our well established AG/Food Processing client is in search of experienced Maintenance Mechanics with Refrigeration experience for IMMEDIATE FULL-TIME CAREER OPPORTUNITIES!


  • Level I - CIRO CERTIFICATION IS A MUST!
  • Level II - CARO CERTIFICATION IS A MUST!
  • Will also consider candidates with Freon, HVAC experience.
  • Individuals applying must be able to work any shift, overtime with short or no notice and rotating weekends.


JOB REQUIREMENTS / DUTIES:

  • Successfully passed Reta CIRO or CARO Ammonia Refrigeration test to be considered for Level I or II.
  • May also consider candidates with 2 to 3 years strong Freon, HVAC experience.
  • Refrigeration knowledge and experience with compressors, condensers, refrigeration accessories and controls, working knowledge of NH3, NH3 Safety.
  • Electrical knowledge to include efficient troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment to include 480V, 220V, 120V and 24V.
  • Working knowledge and ability to efficiently troubleshoot pneumatics, air compressors and components.
  • Ability to efficiently troubleshoot and repair manufacturing, processing and packaging equipment.
  • Working knowledge and ability to efficiently troubleshoot hydraulics including pumps, accessories and controls.
  • Ability to proficiently perform various types of welding including sanitary stainless steel and minor fabrication experience.
  • Working knowledge, and ability to efficiently troubleshoot and repair boilers, steam systems, water softeners pumps, and general plant utilities.
  • Working knowledge of all plant process systems, Breaking Equip., HTST, CIP, sterilization, etc.
  • Some working knowledge of PLC process control system as well as knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC controlled equipment.
  • Possess sufficient hand tools and test equipment with ability to use them to properly perform job functions as required.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II

Salary: $21.00 to $26.00 Per Hour / DOE

Location: Merced County (this position is located within Merced County)

Hours: M-F, or later on, could switch to Wed – Sun. Will be Day Shift for 30-90 days for training, then will switch to 2nd or 3rd shift – will be a set schedule.


Our well established and growing Food Processing Client is in search of an experienced Maintenance Technician II for this excellent DIRECT HIRE CAREER OPPORTUNITY!


  • Performs routine maintenance and inspection of the production process equipment, the utility support systems and the production rooms.
  • This may include, but will not be limited to, water treatment systems and analysis, boilers and operation, refrigeration systems and components, proper welding practices (Sanitary A-3 standards).
  • The ability to read and troubleshoot ladder logic on PLC control systems and related components, proper electrical practices (codes), and pumps.
  • Trouble shooting equipment problems and make necessary  repairs as needed.
  • Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
  • Minimum High School Education with some Electrical or Mechanical vocational training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hazwoper Certification. Must be trained in proper Emergency Response Procedures, including Hazwoper, First Aid/CPR, and SCBA use.
  • 3-4 years of industrial maintenance experience with emphasis on PC based programs.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Trouble shoot high and low voltage control systems, VFD’s and hydraulic systems.
  • Understand the English language and follow instructions in written form. Knowledge of PLC’s, VFD’s, instrumentation. Interpret blue prints and schematics.
  • Ability to complete written reports, accurate documentation of maintenance and inspections performed, including parts and supplies used.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Mechanic & Welding experience

· Opens valves on equipment such as compressors, pumps, and condensers to prepare system for operation and starts equipment and auxiliary machinery

· Observes temperature, pressure and ampere readings for system and equipment and adjusts controls or overrides automatic controls to obtain specified operation of equipment.

· Records temperature, pressure, and other readings on log sheet at specified intervals.

· Makes periodic inspection of equipment and system to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustment.

· Adjusts controls to isolate and clear broken lines for repair or shuts down equipment.

· Repacks pumps and compressors, cleans condensers, and replaces worn or defective parts.

· Keeps compressors and related equipment clean and lubricated.

· Defrosts cold rooms, freezers and chillers as needed.

· Removes oil from compressors and coils when necessary.

· Responsible for product safety, legality, regulatory compliance and product quality.
