Our long-time Food Processing Client with an excellent reputation in their industry is PARTNERING with STAFFING PARTNERS in search of an experienced HR Manager for this EXCELLENT & IMMEDIATE DIRECT HIRE CAREER OPPORTUNITY. 

This position is responsible for effective employee relations, communications and engagement; talent acquisition and development; performance management; compensation/benefits/payroll administration, and HR transactional work processes. Must be able to solve problems collaboratively, provide counsel and leadership, and act as an organizational business partner to positively impact business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide direction, leadership and support on all HR related processes/activities to leaders and team members within all levels and functions.
• Act as a primary contact for employee inquiries on policies, procedures, benefits and practices
• Interact daily with employees to answer questions and facilitate issue resolution, improve employee engagement and maintain the visibility of the HR function.
• Resolve employee relations issues in a fair and equitable manner, and serve as a sounding board for concerns, issues and questions. Provide leadership and appropriate conflict resolution techniques to leaders in a day to day resolution of employment issues
• Ensure positive employee relations by proactive employee communication, prompt issue resolution and fair & equitable treatment.
• Recommend strategies for maintaining a positive work environment
• Manage HR administrative & transactional work processes, such as benefits administration, leaves of absence, Worker’s Compensation, HR systems, and record keeping.
• Facilitate compensation processes, prepare for performance reviews and provide counsel on development opportunities
• Recruit for top talent and manage processes including applicant screening and selection, pre-employment checks and onboarding sessions
• Perform payroll processing on a back-up basis
• Ensure legal compliance by staying apprised of all state and federal statutes and regulations including wage and hour laws, and regulations related to FMLA, AAP/EEO and ADA.
• Support employee safety practices and programs and reporting in compliance with OSHA.
• Coordinate and facilitate cyclical HR initiatives and programs. 

Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field OR equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years HR generalist and/or managerial experience, with 2 years in a supervisory role
• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications and HRIS proficiency
• Previous payroll processing experience preferred or the ability to learn payroll when needed to back-up
• PHR/SPHR a plus
• Current knowledge of HR and business related federal and state labor laws
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Collaborates with upper management for five different business units within California. Overall responsibility Human Resources, Labor Relations, Compliance and Training Development tailored to the needs for each business unit. This includes developing and planning new strategies and tactics to keep up with industry standards including; employee retention, recruiting, and labor compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • HR accreditation such as a PHR or SPHR a plus.
  • Must possess knowledge of employment and labor law, human resources processes and employee relations practices normally acquired through completion of a four year degree in human resources management or a business discipline and five or more years of generalist experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with upper management to plan, develop, implement and administer various human resources plans, policies, practices and procedures for all company personnel. This includes developing and planning new strategies and tactics in order to keep pace with changes affecting the HR fields throughout the industry.
  • Serves as a strategic business partner and provides leadership in all aspects of employee relations, value added HR services and the strategic planning process.
  • Facilitates with employees, supervisors and department heads to settle work-related conflicts through advice and recommendation, while maintaining an attitude and philosophy consistent with company standards.
  • Administers company policies as they relate to all employees. Oversees the administration of disciplinary action according to company policy to ensure its fair, equal and consistent application.
  • Formulates total compensation strategies and programs that will keep the company competitive. Manages compensation approaches such as job evaluation, salary grades, incentive eligibility, etc., assuring they are consistently applied throughout the company.
  • Manages benefit programs and oversees staffing and recruitment efforts as well as government reporting requirements.
  • Oversees or provides assistance to labor relations activities and initiatives. Ensures that operating company practices conform legally to labor agreements.
  • Manages and provides support for employee activities including new hires, benefits, performance reviews, training, terminations and transfers.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of all aspects of total rewards concepts, compensation practices, and knowledge of state and federal regulations with proven records of demonstrating project management skills.
  • Interact with other departments (payroll, safety, environmental, equipment, etc.) and managers/supervisors to establish and attain goals.
  • Leads the investigations and resolution of disputes/claims to ensure fairness and due process are delivered when employee complaints surface.
  • Leads the HR staff.
  • Travel required to Long Beach and Chico locations with overnight stays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • HR experience as described above.
  • Construction or Union experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation  communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Able to work independently and under time constraints.

Job Summary

Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the workplace to ensure compliance with OSHA and related regulations. Plans, develops, administers, and manages organization safety and security policies, programs and training.  Requires working knowledge of federal and state safety laws and the ability to identify and evaluate workplace hazards.    

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.
  2. Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture
  3. Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment
  4. Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance
  5. Investigate accidents, near-miss accidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities 
  6. Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes
  7. Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development
  8. Develop, recommend and implement workers’ compensation policies and procedures; recommend and implement goals and objectives
  9. Process and review worker’s compensation claims, recommending loss control strategies, ensure conformance to applicable laws and regulations while maintaining a high level of customer service 
  10. Order and maintain facility safety inventory including supplies and equipment
  11. Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, HAZCOM, ANSI, NFPA)  
  12. Measure and evaluate effectiveness of safety and security policies
  13. Organize and maintain required reports and records
  14. Ability to facilitate training for all levels of employees, supervision and management
  15. Responsible for the management of in-house and outsourced security personnel
  16. Develops and implements corporate security standards, policies and practices
